From the German national team to WWE….

Former Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Tim Wiese has undergone a dramatic transformation since hanging up his boots in 2014.

After suffering a string of injuries at Hoffenheim, Wiese began to focus his training on body building and has since developed a rather muscular frame (to put it lightly!)

His transformation has not gone unnoticed and Wiese appears to have caught the eyes of WWE Last year he claimed that he had been offered a contact by the organization to join their NXT Division and earlier this year Wiese was reported to be training at WWE’s performance center in Orlando.

Wiese is not the only former goalkeeper to have left football to chase the WWE dream. Former Burton Albion and Port Vale goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson quit football at the age of 28 and now wrestles under the stage name Hugo Knox in WWE NXT.

The Chester born former goalkeeper recently told Men’s Health Magazine “I train with a 6ft 8in, 26st American strongman, female arm wrestling pros and bikini models. They’re all dynamic. If you can’t move, you’re no good.”

It seems like his new training partners are slightly different to those at Burton’s training ground!
