Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid all picked up narrow victories to keep the race for the La Liga title firmly poised with just two games to go.
Second half goals from Ivan Rakitic and Louis Suarez gave Barcelona victory over Real Betis and kept Luis Enrique’s side at the top of the pile. Meanwhile Antoine Griezmann’s 31st goal of the season ensured that Atletico Madrid were still level on points with the league leaders after edging out Rayo.
Real Madrid also kept within a point of the leading pair as Gareth Bale headed home ten minutes from time in a toughly fought game at Real Sociedad.
The two Madrid clubs ultimately need Barcalona to slip up in one of their two remaining games against Espanyol and Granada if they are to have any chance of lifting the trophy at the end of the season. If Enrique’s side grab maximum points then they will be guaranteed the La Liga title.
With two games to go there is still almost nothing to choose between these three sides. Anything could happen!
