WE’VE lost plenty of games to Covid in recent weeks, but at least it’s not been as bad as the winter of 1963.
‘The Big Freeze’ was one of the cold- est and harshest on record - it was so severe that it resembled Siberia and not the UK!
It started at the end of December ’62 and contin- ued until mid-March of ’63, and it had a devastat- ing effect on football.
