The international break was ticking along (slowly) when suddenly news started leaking out about the Manchester City financial verdict and caused a major storm.
In the following days came the official confirmation – City had been found guilty of all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.
While City have appealed against the findings, it’s left the game – and particularly the Premier League – in a bit of a mess.
In this edition, we examine the whole sorry situation and what could happen next.
But we also look further afield and cover a multitude of topics – from a German fan’s secret love of Leyton Orient to the introduction of yellow and red cards.
There’s also Stephen Poxon’s thoughts on the football of today versus yesteryear and a catch up with Scarborough Athletic manager Jono Greening.
We trust there is something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks, as always, go to all our contributors.
If you fancy writing for the magazine please get in touch. You can send submissions and ideas to [email protected]
We read everything that comes in and use the best stuff each issue. Please do remember that as the magazine is printed only every six weeks or so, we can’t use time-sensitive pieces.
We just want stuff that is interesting, funny, poignant, insightful, or maybe even all four.
That aside, the main rule is there are no rules: as long as your piece is about football (pretty crucial, that) and on the right side of legal, we’ll consider it for publication.
