UP STEPS Paul Pitman, Whitby Town’s prolific goalscorer, to take his second penalty of the match. In front of him, behind Hull City’s goal, stand his expectant followers.
Confidently, he slams the ball to the left of City’s goalkeeper Steve Wilson. Amazingly, Non-League Whitby Town are 4-3 up in this topsy-turvy cup-tie.
The first encounter had been staged at Scarborough’s Seamer Road ground because Whitby’s Turnbull Road stadium was not thought to be adequate for the expected crowd.
