IT’S not often that someone’s first role as a permanent head coach comes at a team chasing promotion in the third tier of English football midway through a season.

But at the start of February, Mike Dodds was appointed by League One promotion-chasers Wycombe Wanderers on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 38-year-old has been a prominent figure in Sunderland’s backroom staff over recent years, taking interim charge on three occasions, including the latter part of last season following the departure of Michael Beale.
