Did anyone really think that National League North outfit Macclesfield would knock holders Crystal Palace out of the FA Cup?
The sensational 2-1 victory in the third round even took honest Silkmen manager John Rooney by surprise.
“Did I ever think we would get the win and through to the next round? No, I probably didn’t,” he told BBC Breakfast.
It’s a result that caused shockwaves across the game and had many asking if it’s the greatest FA Cup giant-killing of all-time.
In this issue, Matt Badcock, of our sister publication The Non-League Paper, looks at Macc’s glory and compares it with those of yesteryear.
It’s just one of a real mix of articles from past and present that will hopefully satisfy all tastes.
As we’re into a World Cup year, it’s no surprise our writers are already thinking along those lines, so we hope those pieces whet the appetite.

If you fancy writing for the magazine please get in touch. You can send submissions and ideas to [email protected]
We read everything that comes in and use the best stuff each issue. Please do remember that as the magazine is printed only every six weeks or so, we can’t use time-sensitive pieces.
That aside, the main rule is there are no rules: as long as your piece is about football (pretty crucial, that) and on the right side of legal, we’ll consider it for publication.
We just want stuff that is interesting, funny, poignant, insightful, or maybe even all four.
