THERE have been plenty of ups and downs in Merthyr football, but the future is looking brighter than ever.
The original Merthyr Town formed in 1908 and played in the Football League in the 1920s, before going bust in 1934.
Phoenix club Merthyr Tydfil were formed in 1945 and enjoyed some heady days, including playing in the National League, but were liquidated in 2010. Supporters then reformed the club and reverted back to the original ...
