THEY say that records are made to be broken. The tattered bag in the boot of my car, full of old Guinness Book of Records annuals, will attest to that.

Who cares about records once they have been broken or, more pertinently, their holders usurped from their formerly unconquerable eyrie?
Maybe there’s even a record tucked away in there for how long “a bloke can leave a load of worn-out books in the back of his car before taking them to the charity shop”.
