What are the world’s toughest away days?

Paul Watson explores some of the more inhospitable and unusual places where matches take place, making them away trips nobody wants to make.

We are often told that a Premier League ground is ‘a tough place to go’, meaning that there’s a heated atmosphere in the stands or that the hosts rarely lose on home soil.
But there are some cases where the term might be used more literally. Sometimes football’s geographical and political quirks can leave teams with away fixtures where the hardest test is reaching the match at all, let alone trying to secure a positive result.
