 
																												
														
														
													
As his friends back home were undoubtedly enjoying the mid summer Australian weather, Urry found himself outside a deserted Roots Hall sheltering from the torrential rail.
“We were told as the coach pulled up outside the stadium,” Mr Urry said.
“I got off the coach to have a couple of pictures taken outside the away turnstile, and then we were straight back on the road again.”
Southend were due to face Phil Parkinson’s Bradford but referee deemed the game unplayable after an early afternoon pitch inspection.
