Brendan Rodgers linked with a move to Qatar

Rumors began to swirl yesterday that Brendan Rodgers could be in line for a quick return to management.

Although it may not be a surprise to most that Rodgers is keen to quickly return to the dugout, the location of his potential new job has raised a few eyebrows.

It was reported yesterday that the 42-year-old was in the Middle East for talks with an unnamed Qatari club.

Although the Qatar Stars League (the country’s top division) is no where near the standard of the Premier League, Rodgers would be offered a lucrative salary as well as the opportunity to sample new facilities being built for the 2022 World Cup.

The reputation of the Qatar Stars League has improved in recent years due to the arrival of high profile players such as Xavi, Chicho Flores and Jérémie Aliadière.

If Rodgers does opt for a spell in Qatar, he will join fellow manager Gianfranco Zola in the Gulf state.
