West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has admitted he is interested in signing Manchester CIty’s WIlfried Bony.

The Ivory Coast international joins a long line of strikers who have been linked with a move to West Ham this summer, after rumours suggesting Alexandre Lacazette, Christian Benteke and Carlos Bacca were on their way to East London failed to gather momentum.

“He is a good player,” Bilic said. “He is an option because he plays in the position where, even before the injuries, we tried to sign a player.”

The Hammers have been without their most potent attacking players including Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini, Dimitri Payet and record signing Andre Ayew through injuries and lack of match fitness.

They scraped past Bournemouth in their previous Premier League encounter, narrowly winning 1-0 at the London stadium.

However, Bilic was unsatisfied with his team’s lack of punch up front throughout the match and would hope that the Ivorian could reinvigorate the Hammers’ goal scoring touch.

Bony has had a tough time of it at the Etihad after signing from Swansea for £28 in January 2015.

He has made only 36 league appearances for the citizens, scoring 6 times. However, the 27-year-old was prolific in Wales, scoring 26 times in 54 matches for the Swans between 2013-15.
